The Atlanta Hawks will aim to wrap up their first-round NBA playoff series against the Boston Celtics with a win on the road in Game 6. Join The Roar for live scores from 10am (AEST).

The Hawks ran out massive winners in Game 5 on Tuesday night, and will look to use that momentum and not have to play a Game 7.

Recording a 27-point victory was completely unexpected for the Hawks, in what has been a back and forth, but mostly close, series so far.

The series has been dominated so far by the home teams. The Hawks won the first two matches of the series, before the Celtics bounced back with the next two before the Hawks had that huge win in Game 5. With that all being said, this series could well go to seven games, with the Hawks taking it.

That’s just based on what we have seen so far though. After Game 4 went to overtime and the Celtics won, holding Atlanta to just three points in the five-minute period, it appeared they had the momentum heading into the all-important Game 5.

They had come back from a long way down in Game 1 to challenge, before winning two straight. However, after starting strongly, taking a five-point lead into quarter time and being on par early in the second quarter, Atlanta began to build the advantage heading to halftime.

After the half though, the Hawks scored 28 points in just six minutes, en route to 42 for the quarter as they ran away with the game.

To make matters worse for the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas went over on his ankle, immediately heading off to the locker room. He has said he will refuse to be rested or sit out the game, but his performance could be dramatically lowered which is a big worry, considering that, before only scoring seven in game five he was averaging almost 30 points per game for the series.

The Hawks have made it a point to share their offence around. It has worked a treat so far, with Boston struggling to deal with the multiple threats on defence.

Shooting percentage seems to be key in this series. So far, the games have been won by the team with the higher percentage, and the Celtics were back down right around 35 per cent on Tuesday.

Prediction
Despite a shocking performance on the road for Boston, they should be able to lift at home and force a Game 7.

Celtics by 4.
