No-one ‘deserves’ anything in sport: Mariners must earn it and lucky Victory will have them shaking in their boots
Tony Popovic’s men found a way through the finals and now are just one game away from the most astonishing A-League championship.
For years the England football team has constantly underachieved on the world’s biggest stage, including the FIFA World Cup and the European Championship.
England have produced some of the world’s greatest players including Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Alan Shearer, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Michael Owen and John Terry.
In their day, these players controlled the game whether it was Terry with his bravery and leadership in the back line, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard assisting and controlling the game with their skill and presence on the field, or Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney banging in goals.
England always seem to underachieve.
Is it because of the rivalries with the players at club level or the big egos in the team always wanting to be bigger than their teammates? No matter what the reason, with the talent England have and still are producing they should be winning trophies and be competing highly on the big stage.
So the question remains, how will England perform in Euro 2016?
Many fans believe they will again fall short and underachieve. But with new faces arriving like Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater in the middle of the park, England may finally achieve some glory this year.
How will England fare in Euro 2016? Will they finally achieve on the big stage, or yet again fail to impress with the young talent and experience in the squad?
