Michael Cheika has named his Wallabies squad for the 2016 Rugby Championship, with big names Will Genia, Quade Cooper, Drew Mitchell, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Matt Giteau all included.

Cooper has committed to Australian rugby for the 2017 Super Rugby season, meaning he is eligible to play for the Wallabies despite him not choosing which Super Rugby club his future lies with.

Will Genia has been recalled to the 33-man squad, having played his domestic rugby in France for this season under the 60-Test rule introduced last year, as have Toulon pair Drew Mitchell and Matt Giteau. Bordeaux’s Adam Ashley-Cooper will return for international duty as well.

There are four uncapped players in the squad, including Brumbies prop Allan Alaalatoa, Rebels fullback Reece Hodge and enforcer Lopeti Timani, and rookie Waratahs prop Tom Robertson. Adam Coleman made his debut against England earlier this year, as did Samu Kerevi and Dane Haylett-Petty. All three are included in the squad.

Stephen Moore is once again the captain, with no vice captains named in this release.

The unlucky players to be cut were scrumhalf Nick Frisby, with Genia the preferred option, winger Luke Morahan and prop Toby Smith, all of whom played in the England series.

Kane Douglas returns to Wallaby duty having missed the England series, while Kurtley Beale, Rory Arnold and Joe Tomane are injured and weren’t considered.
