North Queensland’s NRL finals preparations have been thrown into disarray after five players were reportedly charged with two counts of wilful damage for egging cars.
The group, which is believed to include two under-20s players, were stopped by police for a random breath test before midnight on Wednesday when an unknown person accused them of throwing eggs.
The group included one international player and another starter, according to News Corp Australia.
It’s claimed that earlier in the evening the men – aged 18, 21, 22, 23 and 25 – threw eggs and damaged five vehicles, before driving off.
“It will further be alleged a number of eggs and egg cartons were located in the vehicle,” Queensland Police said in a statement on Thursday.
The players have been charged with two counts each of wilful damage and are due to appear in court on October 11.
