Manly forward Jake Trbojevic has been called into the Australian Four Nations rugby league squad for the injured Josh Papalii.

Canberra back-rower Papalii has been ruled out of the tournament with an ankle injury.

Uncapped 22-year-old Trbojevic will join the Kangaroos camp in Perth on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s Test against New Zealand.

“Jake will give us size and intimidation,” Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga said.

“It is always disappointing to lose a player of Josh’s calibre but this will be a wonderful opportunity for Jake and I’m excited to see what he can do in the green and gold jersey.”

Australia’s Four Nations campaign kicks off against Scotland in Hull on October 28.
