Will Genia will return to France and won’t play against the All Blacks next week while David Pocock is set to make a surprise return.

It comes as the international window closes, meaning Genia will return to Stade Francais for his club duties. While it’s a blow to the Wallabies hopes of gaining some pride in the Bledisloe Cup, there is good news with the inclusion of David Pocock and Will Skelton.

Pocock’s recovery is on track after breaking his hand. He’s been named in a 31-man Wallabies squad for the daunting trip to Auckland.

Sean McMahon is also in the squad and is on standby, should Pocock be unable to play.

Will Skelton is the other inclusion to the team.

“They’ve been called into the squad for this game because there’s a chance that Pocock could be available for this game,” Wallabies coach Michael Cheika said.

“McMahon probably a little less but we thought we’d bring him in and get an update on him as well.”

While Genia will miss the Bledisloe, he is expected to be available for the Spring Tour.
