The NBA season is in full swing, with the unfancied Bulls staying top and a beyond the arc legend saying goodbye.

Chicago keeps their perfect winning record
The Chicago Bulls played their first road game of the season and came away from Brooklyn with a big win 118-88.

Led by All-star forward Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade the Bulls were far too strong for the Jeremy Lin-led Nets who fall to 1-3 on the season.

Jimmy Butler scored 22 points and Dwyane Wade chipped in with 12 in the win. The 3-0 start from the Bulls marks the first time since the Michael Jordan led Bulls of 1996-1997 have started a season 3-0.

The Nets night was effectively done after the first quarter when they were already down 18 in the first quarter.

The Bulls are slowly proving doubters wrong when they were routinely regarded as one of the bottom sides in the East. However with Wade still showing he has some game left and Rondo controlling the point they look to be one of the better sides in the East early on.

Next up for the Bulls is a clash against Boston in Boston while the Nets are facing Detroit in game two of a four-game homestand.

Demar Derozan and Kyle Lowry lead the Toronto Raptors against the Denver Nuggets
Demar Derozan has again had a 30-point game his third of the season in the three-point win over Denver 105-102.

Derozan scored 33 and Kyle Lowry came up big in the final stretches with 29 points, after a sloppy second half that saw an 19 point lead disappear the Raptors managed to pull the win out with the late flurry of points.

Denver used a team effort in the game with three players all scoring 15 points. The Nuggets took the lead with eight minutes left in the game after scoring 35 points in the third quarter but they were not able to hold on and Toronto squeezed out the win.

The Raptors now have a trip to Washington to face the struggling Wizards and the Nuggets have a match-up with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

New look Atlanta continue to roll

For the first time in five seasons the Atlanta Hawks has got off to a perfect 3-0 start, beating the Sacramento Kings 106-95.

Atlanta struggled at the free throw line thanks to Dwight Howard and also had trouble with their field goals throughout the match but they got things together at the right time to beat the Kings.

A poor defensive third quarter from Hawks saw the Kings take a two-point lead at the final break but they were not able to keep the run going.

Atlanta had all five of their starters in double figures and did enough to keep DeMarcus Cousins to just 14 points on the night.

Despite apparently working on them in the offseason Dwight Howard again was a mess at the line making just 8/20 but he made up for it with 11 rebounds and four blocks.

Rudy Gay led the way for the Kings with 22 points but the team lacked the final quarter composure to get the win.

Atlanta host the Lakers for their one and only trip to Atlanta for the year. Sacramento will be heading to Miami for a match-up between Hassan Whiteside and DeMarcus Cousins.

Los Angeles Clippers keep the Suns winless
The Los Angeles Clippers big three came up big against the winless Suns, helping the team to a 116-98 win.

Chris Paul scored 24 points while DeAndre Jordan chipped in with 19 points and 11 rebounds to keep the Clippers remain undefeated. Blake Griffin was also big for the Clippers with 21 points and 11 rebounds of his own.

Phoenix have started the season poorly despite some close games the young side just cannot put it all together to get the wins this early in the season.

Brandon Knight led the scoring for Phoenix with 18 and TJ Warren chipped in with 15. The Suns were playing without second year player Devin Booker who had an injured toe. Phoenix will hope that Booker’s injury is not too serious as the offense is much improved with him in the side.

Los Angeles will play host to the one man wrecking ball Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder while Phoenix face another tough opponent in the Portland Trailblazers.

East and West player of the weeks
The East and West player of the week awards were announced over with LeBron James taking the award for the Eastern Conference and a surprise to no one Russell Westbrook took the West Award.

Ray Allen retires
Ray Allen formally announced his retirement from the NBA after 18 seasons. Allen had not played a game in three seasons despite a number of rumours of a possible return. He will leave the NBA as the all-time top three-point scorer with 2,973.

He will almost certainly be a hall of famer when he is eligible for the honour.

Ray Allen played for four different teams in the NBA after initially being drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the famed 1996 draft. His final season was with the Miami Heat when the Heat lost the championship to San Antonio.

His three-point highlight reel is long but he will always be remembered for the game tying three against San Antonio in game six of the NBA finals in 2013.

The three saved the game and the title for the Heat. Miami then went on to win game seven giving Ray his second NBA title after winning one with the Celtics in 2008.
