Kevin Muscat’s team are coming off a disappointing 2-1 big blue derby loss in Sydney, whereas Western Sydney pinched a point in Perth in a 2-2 draw. Both sides will be wanting to take all three points in a thrilling encounter.

Melbourne Victory have been unpredictable lately. In their last three games, they snatched victory in the 93rd minute at Adelaide, smashed Wellington 6-1 and lost the big blue when they could’ve been up two or three-nil at half time.

Tony Popovic’s Wanderers, on the other hand, have been consistent in their past three. But not in a good way. They’ve drawn their last three matches when they were all winning them at one stage. Poppa will be wanting some form from his side and will need it fast if they are going to challenge for the title.

The big team news this week is German marquee, Maximillian Beister, has been cleared to play after getting his visa through. He will be added to the extended squad but will more than likely come off the bench. Marco Rojas won’t be available as he is away on international duty for New Zealand. Carl Valeri return from injury and has put his hand up to play the full 90 minutes.

For the Wanderers, Kerem Bulut, Steve Lustica and Robbie Cornthwaite are all back in the squad. Bulut may find it hard to break into the starting 11 though with Brendon Santalab scoring in his last two games. Cornthwaite is likely to start and Lustica may see himself be swapped for Jaushua Sotirio.

The key matchup in this game is the strikers battle between Brendon Santalab and Bersart Berisha.

The Albanian striker will be looking to redeem himself after horribly scuffing a penalty against Sydney. Santalab is on the verge of three goals in his last three for himself. The two strikers are currently joint top scorers on four goals and will want to out-do each other on the pitch in the race for the golden boot.

Prediction
Melbourne Victory to get a 3-1 bounce back win.
