Sydney FC face off against a robust Perth Glory side at Allianz Stadium this Sunday. Join The Roar for live scores from the match and a live blog of the game, starting from 5pm (AEDT).

The match comes after Sydney FC pulled off a glorious comeback to defeat Melbourne Victory, meanwhile Perth Glory were unlucky to not pick up their second win of the season as they fell short of a deserved three points against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Graham Arnold’s tactical genius was evident last week as David Carney was substituted in the 70th minute for marquee Filip Holosko, a move that turned heads in concern, however it payed off as the 32-year old scored two sublime left-foot finishes to get Sydney their sixth straight win to remain undefeated and five points clear at the top.

Sydney FC base their game on possession. Their midfield anchors Brandon O’Neill and Josh Brillante are key to their ability to control the game, which could disrupt Perth Glory’s standoffish pressing style as they prefer to play a very direct passing game with Diego Castro and Andy Keogh finding space in between the midfielders. If Perth give Sydney FC’s midfielders too much room to move an avenue will open for attackers Alex Brosque, Bobo and Filip Holosko to get shots away at an unreliable Liam Reddy in goal.

Perth Glory should have come away with three points at home to the Wanderers but their defensive awareness let them down, it was not the first time this season that defensive mistakes have cost them points and key absences have played a role.

The absence of Rhys Williams was sure to be felt as well as captain Rostyn Griffiths failed a fitness test to start the match. This may have had an impact on the organisation of their defence and their lethargic midfield.

A sluggish midfield is the last thing Perth need as an energetic and in-form Sydney FC midfield will run rings around them. That is if attackers Diego Castro and Andy Keogh are on point with their movement who have only linked up once to score against Sydney FC in two seasons. Andy Keogh however has scored three out of his four goals away from home this season.

Some are convinced that a run like this from the Sky Blues is sure to end, but I simply think it won’t. I’m predicting Sydney FC to strike through with another win.
