If these two Melbourne teams were to merge, it create an interesting combination.

Captain
Despite missing two games last season, Ben Cunnington does his job every week without fuss.

Back line
Neville Jetta is a capable small defender who always contributes to make the team he’s in better. Michael Hibberd is an attacking defender who was given the honour of All Australian selection last season.

Sam Frost can negate the opposition’s best tall forward. Jamie Macmillan and Jayden Hunt are attacking half back flankers, while Robbie Tarrant has to be one of the best tall defenders in the league, and he’s also a proven leader.

Midfield
Ryan Clarke had a good game against the Richmond Tigers in their preseason game and has had a solid preseason overall. He has shown that he is able to play a role on the wing.

As well as being a good leader, Ben Cunnington managed to get the most disposals of any Kangaroos player despite missing two games last season. Billy Hartung is a talented individual adept at playing on a wing and with the flexibility to push forward.

Forward line
Nathan Hrovat and Trent Dumont can play roles on the half forward flank. Cameron Pedersen coincidentally first played for the Kangaroos before being traded to Melbourne despite always performing at an adequate level for North Melbourne. He is more than capable of playing centre half forward and being the second ruckman.

Kayne Turner and Aaron Vandenberg both go under the radar and both have the ability to play in the forward pocket. Jarrod Waite may be getting older, but he is still capable of kicking goals.

Followers
Max Gawn is now a part of the Demons leadership group, and he is the number one ruckman for the Demons because he flourishes when playing that role. Jack Ziebell and Shaun Higgins are two pivotal players for the Kangaroos who always play to a good level in whatever part they are chosen to play. Both can kick goals.

Interchange bench
Jake Lever will be utilised on the back half. Angus Brayshaw will play on a wing; he is a tenacious youngster who has hunger for the contest. Clayton Oliver and Dom Tyson are two high-performing midfielders for the Demons.
