Round 13 provided us with three very close games of the six played. The remaining three matches were thoroughly monotonous and quite one-sided.

Perhaps the AFL should take Patrick Dangerfield’s advice and make the game shorter.

Top five coaches of Round 13
1. Allan Richardson (Saints)

2. John Longmire (Swans)

3. Damien Hardwick (Tigers)

4. Ken Hinkley (Power)

5. Ross Lyon (Dockers)

Byes: Bombers, Demons, Giants, Kangaroos, Lions, Magpies

Power vs Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are struggling. They have been quite affected by injuries, and unfortunately for them, this game was over at quarter-time.

Power team lifter: Tom Rockliff
Bulldogs team lifter: Marcus Bontempelli

Swans vs Eagles
The Swans are travelling well and performing at a high level. They put in a four-quarter effort and were outstanding defensively.

Swans team lifter: Josh P. Kennedy
Eagles team lifter: Elliot Yeo

Blues vs Dockers
The Blues let themselves down and had a deplorable first half.

It was as bad a first half as I have seen this season. Despite winning the second half, the game was over in the first quarter.

Patrick Cripps did perform admirably, however, and was a shining light. He collected thirty-eight possessions.

Will changing the coach at the Blues make a difference?

Suns vs Saints
The players are playing for Richo.

I would have forgiven the Saints for quitting when they were losing by nearly six goals in the third quarter, but they didn’t.

The winning side managed to keep the Giants scoreless in the last quarter and completed a remarkable comeback to collect a morale-lifting four points.

Hawks vs Crows
There is something wrong with the Crows. They are a top eight team on paper, but of course, sport isn’t played on paper.

Hawks team lifter: Tom Mitchell
Crows team lifter: Matt Crouch

Cats vs Tigers
The Tigers are still contenders and have managed to cope without the likes of David Astbury and Bachar Houli on defence.

The Tigers structure is clearly working. The use of Shaun Grigg as a second ruckman and Jack Riewoldt as the solitary tall forward has worked quite nicely.

Cats team lifter: Joel Selwood
Tigers team lifter: Nick Vlastuin
