Melbourne Rebels have fined departing forwards Amanaki Mafi and Lopeti Timani $15,000 each for their physical altercation in New Zealand last weekend.

Mafi was charged with a criminal offence, after an alleged assault of Timani, with his case adjourned by the Dunedin District Court until August 3.

Rugby Australia is conducting its own investigation into the incident.

The pair are now both continuing their careers overseas.

The Rebels have sanctioned them for breaching team protocols and team management instructions, following the incident after last Saturday’s season-ending loss to the Highlanders.
