Match preview:

The Adelaide Crows must continue their run of wins if they want to push for the finals when they host the Melbourne Demons at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:40pm (AEST).

After a solid start to the season, the Crows have found themselves in a real rut over the middle part of the season. It has left them four points out of the eight, but two wins in as many weeks leave them with some confidence.

Given they had lost five of their last six, a win (even at home) over Geelong by 15 points in Round 17 came as something of a surprise.

That was one of their best performances of the season, and if the Crows can keep that going it will leave them in good stead ahead of this match against the Demons, who have similarly fallen from the heights they achieved at the start of the season.

Adelaide did beat an improving Brisbane Lions last week, but it’s hard to know how much to take from it given the struggles of Brisbane.

Now, back at home for two weeks, the Crows are in a position where they effectively must keep winning if they want to bash down the door to the top eight.

Melbourne were in the top four at one point as well, but are now clinging onto eighth position just four competition points ahead of the Crows.

They had recorded back-to-back victories over Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs at home before going down to Geelong last week away. The trip to the west of Melbourne was a tough one for the Demons, with a final two-point margin.

The Demons were far from poor last week, but they have lost their last two away games, including going down to Port Adelaide in Round 14.

While they hammered Adelaide in the Northern Territory during their last meeting, that will only serve as motivation for the Crows in front of their home fans.

Prediction
Adelaide are back at home and coming off two straight should get the better of this one as they try to fight back after being belted by Melbourne earlier in the season.

Crows by 14.
