It’s been a rough start to the season for Wolverhampton, who many picked to finish the season inside the top 10.
They salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw against Everton in their first match, a game where they played against 10-men for more than an hour.
They then went on to lose 2-0 away to Leicester City – who spent 30 minutes playing with ten men.
The Wolves have significant financial backing and cruised through the Championship last season, but that hasn’t been enough so far.
However, they can take solace in the fact that last season they played Manchester City in the Carabao Cup – and the Citizens failed to score against them.
The game ended 0-0 and City scraped through via penalties.
Manchester City have shown no signs of slowing down.
After a dominant 2-0 win over Arsenal away from home, they returned to the Etihad last week and put six past a sorry Huddersfield side.
Sergio Aguero bagged his ninth Premier League hat-trick and his 13th for City. He’s now second behind Alan Shearer for most hat-tricks in the league.
Prediction
A loss or draw here will see Wolves extend their Premier League winless run to club-record 17 matches.
It’s unlikely they’ll be able to arrest that streak in this game.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0, Manchester City 3
