It’s been a dream start to the new English Premier League season for Chelsea under new manager Maurizio Sarri and they will aim to keep that going when they hit the road to play Newcastle. Join The Roar for live scores from 1am (AEST).

Chelsea, aiming to improve on their showing from last season have had a good mix of games to start the season and will be impressed with the performances they have been able to wheel out.

Starting on the road to Huddersfield, they picked up a comprehensive 3-0 victory, before starting extremely well against Arsenal last week.

They raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, playing an attacking brand of football and dominating out of the midfield.

While that didn’t last 90 minutes and the game looked as if it would be headed for a draw at one point, a late goal ensured they would take a 3-2 win and have all six points at this early stage of the season.

Newcastle have had a better start to the season than many were expecting, but would have been frustrated to not collect three points from last week’s outing.

After taking the challenge to Tottenham Hotspurs in their first game of the season before eventually falling 2-1, they held Cardiff City scoreless last week, but annoyingly couldn’t get a goal of their own.

What this start to the season has shown is that their defence is on par, near enough to the level it will have to be all season long if they are hopeful of avoiding relegation.

Last week’s outing was made all the more impressive by the fact they played the final half hour with ten men after Isaac Hayden was shown a controversial red card. They passed with accuracy though and managed to do what was needed to grab their first point of the season.

Prediction
Even away from home, Chelsea should keep their run going against a side who will be in the relegation argument come the end of the season. Don’t expect this to be done in a canter, because Newcastle’s defence is decent, but Chelsea will take care of business, doing exactly what they need to do.

Newcastle 0 – Chelsea 1.
