It’s been 13 seasons since Robbie Farah and Benji Marshall teamed up to guide the Wests Tigers to their one and only premiership as a merged club, but they aren’t ready to hang up the boots yet, the veteran duo resigning on to go around again in 2019.

While neither player has confirmed it, it’s currently anticipated that it will be the final season in first grade rugby league for both Farah and Marshall.

The duo have played countless seasons at the Tigers together, but were both forced out of the club in recent seasons due to their own separate issues.

After a move to the Auckland Blues in Super Rugby and brief stints with both the St George Illawarra Dragons and Brisbane Broncos upon his return to the NRL, Marshall came back to the Tigers this year, while Farah was involved in a mid-season release to return from the South Sydney Rabbitohs after being forced out of the club in 2017.

While they haven’t got the Tigers into the top eight at the end of the season, both have displayed solid form and after discussions in the last week were keen to go around again.

“For the last week or so we were messaging each other a lot and talking about it more,” Farah said.

“It’s exciting to finally get it done.

“I wanted to take my time with the decision and I’m glad it’s done now.

“I want to embrace everything and take it all in now knowing it’s going to be my last year, and hopefully leave a legacy once I’m gone. I want to leave the club in a better place once Benji and I are gone, and I’m really looking forward to playing that role.”

Between them, the duo have played 476 games for the Tigers spanning back to 2003, with the highlight still being their famous 2005 grand final win over the Cowboys.
