Rugby league isn’t really a sport most Melbournians take to watching on a weekly basis.

Sure the Melbourne Storm are one of the best teams in the competition – unfortunately there are not many fans who are passionate about the Storm despite their success.

For years, I’ve always watched NRL from afar and just always checked up on how everyone is going on social media – until this year, when I started working on NRL Nation. I’ve worked with some of the best experts in the game from Gary Belcher, Scott Sattler as well as Scott Prince and current Sharks second rower and half back Luke Lewis.

Although the NRL has always been a secondary sport to many Victorians, the sport has officially won me over throughout the course of this season. I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Sure there are some games that are boring, however when it is very close – it can be quite entertaining.

Round 22 proved that when we covered Gold Coast Titans taking on the Penrith Panthers at CBus Stadium. The Panthers came back and with a Nathan Cleary and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak try getting the Penrith side back into the game.

Nathan Cleary missed the two points which would’ve given the Panthers a win, but ultimately we went into golden point. Cleary got the drop goal three minutes into golden point and secured the match for the Panthers.

League can be an exciting sport, I’ve become a fan. Both the NRL and AFL finals begin this week and I’ll be honest I am excited about the NRL Finals as I am of the AFL Finals.

Thank you so much NRL, you’ve won me over and I am now a big fan of the sport as much as the AFL. Bring on the NRL finals, and then bring on season 2019.
