The first week of the 2018 NRL finals concludes with the Brisbane Broncos taking on the St George Illawarra Dragons in a Sunday afternoon classic in Queensland. The match will begin at 4:00pm (AEST) on Sunday, September 9 at Suncorp Stadium.

When these sides met in Round 1, it was the Dragons who got their season off to a flyer with a convincing 34-12 victory.

This time, however, the sides will meet in vastly different circumstances.

Despite never winning more than three games in a row, the Broncos have been thereabouts for much of the season and, following three very impressive victories to finish the season, are poised to give the finals a decent shake.

The Dragons, on the other hand, have been limping to the finals for some time.

They wrapped up a September spot with an impressive 12-4 start to the year, but have spluttered badly from that point and have been written off as serious contenders by most analysts.
