There are four teams left, and it’s a case of last man standing as injuries and suspensions play their part on the finals. Join The Roar for all the news, analysis and team lists ahead of the preliminary finals from 3:30pm (AEST).
The big news regards suspensions this weekend. Latrell Mitchell will be missing for the Roosters after committing a crusher tackle on Josh Dugan during their win over the Sharks in the second qualifying final.
Their opponents, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, will have Greg Inglis available for selection though after he escaped without suspension from a crusher tackle of his own against the Dragons. The difference between the pair of Origin centres was carry over points.
Speaking of suspensions, and Will Chambers will be back in the centres for the Melbourne Storm after he has sat out a few weeks for a crusher tackle of his own.
Moving to injury news, and it’s the Cronulla Sharks who have the most going on.
Ahead of their trip to Melbourne, Paul Gallen will need to overcome a rotator cuff injury, but is expected to be named today and given until the last minute to prove his fitness for the contest.
Luke Lewis is also likely to beat a corked thigh, while Josh Dugan is rated a 50-50 chance to return from the shoulder injury which saw him become a late exclusion last week.
The Storm also have good news in terms of injuries, with Nelson Asofa-Solomona expected to beat an ankle injury.
The Roosters had plenty of bumps and bruises after their qualifying final, but are likely to be at full strength minus Mitchell for their clash against the Rabbitohs, who are also expected to be at full strength despite off-field allegations for Sam Burgess and a on-field head clash between other two Burgess brothers last week.
