The fat lady has blessed us with her operatic tones and the players are already in the ice baths!

After more deliberation than an NRL judiciary, the Club Roar judges have finally decided on the winners of the Club Roar Awards: Round 4!

Did you or your favourite grassroots sporting moment take home the cash?

CLUB ROAR AWARD (MOST POPULAR) – $2,000

The Club Roar Award covers absolutely everything across all categories, making it one tough pool to come out on top of as the most popular among viewers and the judging panel.

WINNER:

2ND: Is this classic the WORST maiden ever bowled?

3RD: Drop punt gets ridiculous bend to split the goal posts

4TH: UNBELIEVABLE schoolboy trick pass will absolutely fool you

5TH: Dramatic meat pie after full time to win a grandstand finish!

This one was tougher to pick than the Melbourne Cup but first past the post was this sidestepping freak and try of the year contender coming out of the Quakers Hill Destroyers!

The judges just couldn’t shake how reminiscent this ridiculous try was to Jarryd Hayne’s effort against the Dragons in the 2009 NRL Finals and we know you Roarers agree. He showed off natural, impossible-to-teach ability and an unshakeable determination to find the line.

We suspect he’ll be dazzling defenders, fans, and Club Roar for many years to come!

BEASTMODE – $1,000

Beastmode encapsulates the absolute units of the sporting world, the keg on legs that tears through half a dozen defenders. A human bulldozer, man-made truck or just a big boppa causing havoc on the opposition.

WINNER:

2ND: Giant prop enters beastmode, can’t be brought down!

3RD: Is this the most savage kick return ever?

BOOMFA! Not only did he score the unlikely try but the King of Riverview has also barrelled over the judges with his sheer grit, strength, and determination!

He’s by no means the biggest lad on the park and that’s exactly what the judges love about this moment! Beastmode is about using what you’ve got and channeling your inner mongrel to get the job done – EXHIBIT A!

DREAM TEAM – $1,000

Teamwork makes the dream work! These guys and gals are the ones that are winning premierships and grand finals instead of player of the year awards.

WINNER:

2ND: Insane futsal dream team juggling goal

3RD: Is this the most miraculous match-sealing try of all time?

It’s the try every backline yearns to pull off and the Dream Team play every Club Roar judge drools over!

The boys from Trinity Grammar pulled off the slickest and trickiest of set pieces, using every player from 9 to 15 to bag one of the greatest tries of the year! If that’s not worthy of the Dream Team Award then nothing is!

PRODIGY – $1,000

Those unrivalled talents on the cusp of stardom, the hidden gems who haven’t quite been discovered or deserve more with the talent they have on display.

WINNER:

2ND: 16-year-old rugby BEAST is already causing cross-code war

3RD: Prodigious schoolboy Luca Moretti has both codes vying for his signature

It’s the category swimming with future Dally M dominators, John Eales juggernauts, and Brownlow blitzers, but Penrith Panthers recruit Tom Farr was able to rise above the pack and snatch the Prodigy Award!

Tom’s bone-shattering defence caught the judges’ eye before he blew them all away with his explosive speed and Valentine Holmes-esque evasiveness!

Soon, we’ll all be using Tom Farr as the prefix, not Valentine Holmes!

WOMEN IN SPORT – $1,000

With the addition of the National Rugby League competition to the already popular AFLW, rugby sevens and WBBL, women’s sport is stronger than ever.

WINNER:

2ND: Legend miraculously slots rare Olympic goal

3RD: High school basketballer sinks INCREDIBLE three-quarter court shot

The Women In Sport category is the best it’s ever been which makes it even more astounding that South Melbourne was able to take out the top two spots!

Piping Alexandra Gummer’s Olympic goal on the line, teammate Aimee Medwin’s ballistic missile stunned the keeper and Club Roar judges alike.

The pinpoint accuracy and power she managed to get behind the ball is all the more impressive when you see the behind-the-goal angle.

FAILS & FUNNIES – $1,000

You can’t have all the best bits of sport, the glitz and glamour, without the Fails & Funnies that come with it.

WINNER:

2ND: Is this the funniest header gaffe you’ve seen?

3RD: Hilariously garbage ball makes John Howard’s infamous pill look like McGrath

Was it ever going to be anything else? The ‘Worst Maiden Ever Bowled’ is an instant classic! A disasterpiece matched by Tommy Wiseau’s cult classic “The Room.”

There are no words for this comical glory… Just watch!

LITTLE LEGENDS – $1,000

The base of the sporting pyramid where it all starts regardless of sport or location. Where would sport be without the Little Legends running around at grassroots level, ready to become the next generation of stars?

WINNER:

2ND: Footballing sensation sinks impossible free kick from a mile out

3RD: 7 year old makes gutsy try saving tackle

We witnessed plenty of award-worthy Little Legends moments this round but it’s hard to go past the young gun with the Greg Inglis fend!

This little legend managed to break away from the swarming defence before giving a brutal don’t argue to a determined defender giving chase.

As if that wasn’t enough for the judges to hand over the trophy, he ices the cake with a hilarious put-down and post-try celebration!

PURE SKILL – $1,000

This covers the absolute best of pure, unadulterated, raw talent and the special skill that turns a sports player into a sports star.

WINNER:

2ND: Juggernaut goes on sidestepping rampage in ridiculous try of the year contender

3RD: INSANE goal from halfway would make Wayne Rooney proud

This one had the judges going into overtime and ordering in some Chinese food – how do you split it?!

After countless arguments and debates, the judges found themselves going back to the one-handed hanger again and again. The image of this human A380 flying out of nowhere to pluck the Sherrin from the clouds with just one hand was seared into their brains!

How did he reel that one in?!

INTERNATIONAL STARS – $1,000

Incredible grassroots sporting moments aren’t just reserved for Australia, oh no, classic moments happen in amateur sports all over the world in every sport imaginable.

WINNER:

2ND: Unbelievable amateur free kick that’s stunned the football world

3RD: 6-year-old’s viral step combos and lightning feet will take your breath away

The International Stars category has always featured some spectacular moments that have taken the world by storm and this round was certainly no different!

In amongst the viral videos and internet sensations, one soccer-rugby crossover, in particular, stood out as a once-in-a-lifetime moment!

Training run or not, this winger had no right to score this try! The ball was gone, headed straight for the turf and over the sideline thanks to a wayward pass, but the cheeky winger went for the hail-mary kick and it bloody well paid off!

What do you think Roarers? Did the judges get it right?
