Coming out of Ibstock, Leicestershire, Sam ‘The Bullet’ Bowen has proven himself throughout British boxing with an existing 14-0 record, beating fighters such as Lorenzo Parra, Juan Ocura and more recently, Maxi Hughes, in which he gained the British Super Featherweight Title.

Bowen may only a be a few more fights away from European success and has been tipped to reach the highest of heights in world boxing in the coming years.

After some eye-catching performances, including an impressive knockout to Horacio Alfredo Cabral to hold the Inter-Continental Super Featherweight Title, Sam Bowen has begun to make a name for himself within the boxing world.

Carl Greaves was quoted as saying “Sam is one of these fighters who will always find a way to win. He is so naturally strong and hits very hard to the body.” He went on to praise his tenacity, saying, “A lot of fighters bypass difficult opponents, but Sam doesn’t do that. He would go in with anyone, at any time.

“If I was going to war I would want Sam with me as he has the will to win and determination and will fight until he can’t stand up. I have had a lot more talented fighters in the gym, but they haven’t got it in them. They haven’t got the heart.”

The current WBO Super-Featherweight champion Masayuki Ito is probably above Sam Bowen in ability and most certainly in experience, with a 24-1-1 record and has beaten Christopher Diaz for the title, so Bowen has quite a way to go to reach those heights.

Carl Greaves however, believes this is a fight that Bowen has a chance in. “The WBO champion is not the strongest of world champs, he is Japanese and that is not a fight which is too far away from Sam.”

Even if Sam Bowen can’t claim the world title, many big names in the boxing world have definitely tipped him for European success in upcoming years. Archie ‘The Sharpshooter’ Sharp is the current European 130lbs champion, is an opponent that Sam Bowen could defeat but the problem as of now is getting Sam Bowen the fight.

Bowen had struggles getting the British title fight but when given the opportunity, he pounced on it and defeated Maxi Hughes in the King Power Stadium. So, who’s to say, when given the opportunity to fight for the European title, Bowen won’t pounce again?
