The most controversial pre-season topic in the AFL has finally arrived. AFLX will see four teams compete for the trophy, and this is The Roar’s guide to streaming it live online, or watching every moment on TV.

This year’s tournament will be played on Friday, February 22 from 7:10pm (AEDT) at Marvel Stadium.

With six games in the round robin (each team plays three games), and a final, the tournament is expected to conclude at around 10:30pm (AEDT). Said final will commence at 9:57pm (AEDT).

Each team has been selected by a captain at the draft, which was held a fortnight ago.

The teams are the Bolts (captained by Patrick Dangerfield), the Rampage (captained by Jack Riewoldt), Deadly (captained by Eddie Betts) and Nat Fyfe (captained by Nat Fyfe).

How to watch the tournament on TV

The tournament will be broadcast on Australian TV by both Channel 7 on free to air and Fox Sports, through Fox Footy, on pay TV.

Fox Footy is Foxtel’s 24/7 AFL channel, and in addition to the AFLX tournament, also has every match of the JLT pre-season cup and AFLW over the next few weeks.

Their coverage of the tournament will commence at 7pm (AEDT), and Fox Footy can be found on Channel 504. To watch the broadcast on Foxtel though, you will need to have a valid Foxtel TV subscription.

Channel 7 will begin their coverage at 7pm (AEDT), with the coverage found on Channel 70 in high definition or 71 in standard definition.

In some states, the coverage may be pushed onto 7Mate (Channel 72), so we suggest you check your local guides.

How to live stream the tournament on TV

There are two ways to stream the AFLX tournament online in 2019, however, given Seven don’t have digital rights, you’ll have to be prepared to pay for both.

To watch the coverage through Fox Sports, the best option is to sign up to Kayo Sports, which allows you to stream every Foxtel sports channel from $25 per month.

You can also use Foxtel’s dedicated streaming applications, being the Foxtel App or Foxtel Now.

If you want to live stream every game of the AFL season, including the grand final, which Fox Sports doesn’t have broadcast rights to, then you’ll want to go through the AFL live pass.

Here at The Roar, we will also have all the action, with a live blog and highlights.
