One of the NRL’s biggest pre-season games will be back in Mudgee for 2019, with the St George Illawarra Dragons and South Sydney Rabbitohs set to square off for the Charity Shield.

Like last year, this match will be played at the Glen Willow Sports Complex in Mudgee, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm (AEDT) on Saturday, March 2.

The Charity Shield, set up between two of rugby league’s most famous clubs to donate funds to charities in need, as well as having a solid hit-out ahead of the NRL season, has been running since 1982, with this being the 36th edition.

The Rabbitohs are the defending champions of the Shield after winning 22-18 last year, with the Dragons winning 16 matches (includes 11 wins as St George Dragons before merging), the Rabbitohs 14 and there also being five draws.

How to watch the match on TV

The match has long been broadcast right around Australia, and Fox Sports hold the exclusive rights to one of the biggest pre-season matches on the NRL’s calendar.

They will broadcast the game on their 24 hours a day, seven days a week rugby league channel, Fox League, which can be found on Channel 502.

If you want to watch the match on TV, you will need a valid Foxtel TV subscription including the sports package.

How to stream the match online

Because the match is being broadcast on Foxtel, that means the simplest and most affordable live streaming option for viewers within Australia will be to use Kayo Sports.

Alternatively, you could use one of Foxtel’s live streaming services.

These are either Foxtel Now or the Foxtel App.

If you already have access to Foxtel on TV, you will be using the Foxtel app, which allows you to stream the channels of Foxtel on any device you may own for free, provided you have existing login details.

Foxtel Now is the better option if you only want to stream Foxtel channels and not have a TV subscription.

If you are outside of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and want to watch the NRL, the best way is to use Watch NRL.
