The Matildas will open their Women’s FIFA World Cup against Italy, and the Matildas will be harbouring serious expectations of making a push deep into this year’s tournament. This is The Roar’s guide to live streaming the match online, or watching it on TV in Australia.

Kick-off in Australia’s opening match of the campaign is scheduled for 9pm (AEST) on Sunday, June 9 at the Stade du Hainaut in Valenciennes, France, who are hosting this year’s edition of the tournament.

How to watch the match on TV

If you are looking to tune in by watching the match on TV, then there is only one way to do so in Australia.

While only Matildas matches, the opener and every match from the quarter-finals will be available on TV in Australia, you can tune in through SBS to those games.

They will broadcast from 8:30pm (AEST) on Sunday evening through Channel 30 in high definition or Channel 31 in standard definition.

How to live stream the match online

There are two ways to tune in online for the Matildas opening match of the campaign.

Every single match of the Women’s FIFA World Cup this year will be available through Optus Sport. Their sign-up package to the sports package costs $15 per month, however, some Optus customers will have it included in their mobile plan, so be sure to check that information if you are already with the company.

Otherwise, you’ll also be able to stream the match through The World Cup on the SBS website.
