It’s been one hell of an up-and-down season for Penrith in 2019.
They started horribly, winning two of their first eight games. With club star Dallin Watene-Zelezniak demanding an immediate release after being dropped, pressure mounted immensely on coach Ivan Cleary.
But the Panthers turned it around in stunning fashion, winning seven in a row to flip their ledger from 2-8 to 9-8 and turn finals from a distant pipe dream into a near certainty.
However, the rollercoaster has dipped again, with back-to-back losses to Canberra and Canterbury seeing the club slide to ninth and, with a tricky draw, face the very real prospect of a finals series out in the cold.
We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar NRL expert Tim Gore to try and diagnose the latest Penrith problems, before looking ahead and making a call on whether they’ve thrown their 2019 finals ticket away.
