Australia’s final tune-up before the 2019 Rugby World Cup takes place this Saturday night at Parramatta’s Bankwest Stadium, with the Wallabies tackling Samoa.

After a whirlwind run of form across the Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup, Australia – worryingly – still seem uncertain as to what their best XV looks like just weeks away from the start of the big tournament.

But is this Test too close to the World Cup for it to be used as a practice match for gold jerseys?

We were joined by Roar rugby expert Brett McKay on the Game of Codes podcast to discuss the right approach for Michael Cheika and co. this weekend.

With whispers suggesting lots of the first-choice XV will miss – with some non-World Cup squad players even in the frame to play – is that really the right move given Australia’s first two group stage matches will be their most important ones?

We also touch on injured star David Pocock and whether now is the time to put him back on a rugby field and get him right for Japan, or whether Saturday night is still too early to unleash him.
