The story of the match day was Manchester City’s 8-0 victory over Watford.

Even though Watford sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, it was still a big victory for a team who lost to a promoted side last week out. There were a couple of fight backs, notably from Leicester City and Arsenal and a fairly big upset with West Ham defeating Manchester United.

There was a total of 31 goals, even though there was eight in one game, which equates to an average of 3.1 goals per game. This is relatively high, considering that there was a scoreless draw for the second week in a row.

There are only two points separating seventh-placed Tottenham from sixteenth-placed Norwich, which is what makes this season such an exciting one!

Coaches under the pump
Quique Sánchez Flores (Watford) – Despite playing against Manchester City, 8-0 is an unacceptable score line for Watford and even though Flores was only recently appointed the margin of eight goals is unacceptable.

Southampton vs Bournemouth
Bournemouth claim crucial win
Bournemouth won a game that was in the balance until the very end.

Magic Moment: Phillip Billing of Bournemouth played an exquisite effective pass to Harry Wilson who made the score 2-0, approximately 35 minutes into the first half.

Who stood out from the pack? Aaron Ramsdale, the Bournemouth goal keeper made some important saves to ensure that Bournemouth claimed all three points. Ramsdale even finished the game with an assist, which is rare for a keeper.

What went right? Bournemouth scored three goals from the three shots that they had on target, which illustrates how efficient and clinical they were in the final third.

What went wrong? Southampton’s only goal was from a penalty, which shows how wasteful they were in the final third; given they had a total of 25 shots for the game.

Leicester City versus Tottenham Hotspur
Leicester stun Spurs
It was a good game of football with Leicester coming back from a 1-0 deficit thanks to some enterprising football to claim the three points.

Magic Moment: It was impossible to top James Maddison’s winning goal from outside the box; a stunning strike which was worthy of being the decisive moment in determining that Leicester claimed all three points.

Who stood out from the pack? James Maddison was in a class of his own with a stunning winner late on, that was a remarkable finish.

What went right? The game ebbed and flowed, there was no clear dominant team throughout. VAR did its job, correctly ruling out one goal for Leicester in the first half and a goal for Tottenham in the second half, that was also disallowed.

What went wrong? A draw may well have been a fair result, but Leicester claimed all three points in the end.

Crystal Palace versus Wolverhampton
Late goal gives Wolves a point
It was a score draw with both teams collecting what may prove to be a valuable point, although Crystal Palace may look back at this game as two points lost as the goal they conceded was so late in the contest.

Magic Moment: Matt Doherty of Wolverhampton had a header brilliantly stopped by Crystal Palace goal keeper, Vicente Guaita, after the midway point of the first half.

Who stood out from the pack? Adama Traore from Wolverhampton was the stand out, Traore provided the assist for the equaliser deep into second half stoppage time.

What went right? The game was in the balance from start to finish with a goal deep in stoppage time salvaging a point for Wolverhampton. Possession was very even and both teams had thirteen shots each and incredibly four shots on target, each, therefore a draw should be considered a fair result.

It appeared as if Aston Villa were going to win the game as they were ahead 2-1 with about ten minutes left of normal time. That didn’t eventuate.

Magic Moment: Patrick-Emerick Aubameyang scored a decisive goal from a free kick late on, which made the score three-two in Arsenal’s favour.

Who stood out from the pack? Patrick-Emerick Aubameyang was an integral part of Arsenal coming away from the game with all three points.

What went right? Arsenal scored from exactly half of the shots that they had on target, which was three out of six.

Chelsea versus Liverpool
Liverpool just keep on winning!
Liverpool were extremely efficient scoring from two of their six shots for the game; the two goals came in the first half, while Chelsea scored just one goal from their thirteen shots. It was a case of what could have been for Chelsea, as they didn’t play badly.

Magic Moment: Trent Alexander-Arnold scored an outstanding goal from a free kick to break the dead lock.
