They’re calling Uruguay’s 30-27 win over Fiji the second greatest upset in Rugby World Cup history but Uruguay’s captain knows how much hard work went into the victory.

Juan Manuel Gaminara spoke passionately after his side shocked Fiji and he held back tears about what it means for the team that no one gave a chance.

“I’m really proud of my country,” Gaminara said.

“We’re not the biggest, we’re not the tallest but we came here to win.”

Gaminara also made reference to the fact that nothing comes easy for Tier two nations who have to struggle just to make it to the big dance.

While Fiji certainly didn’t play their best and will be rueing a lot of errors, Uruguay held their nerve and stuck to their gameplan to create history and their first win at a World Cup since 2003.
