In one of the best initiatives the AFL has put forward in recent years, an AFL State of Origin match between Victoria and the All-Stars is set to raise much-needed funds in the bushfire relief effort. This is The Roar’s ultimate guide to live streaming AFL State of Origin, or watching it on TV.

Every AFL club will be represented by at least one player when the ball is bounced at 7:50pm (AEST) on Friday, February 28. Every single one of the game’s biggest stars (barring those injured) has put their hand up to play, with both teams bringing nine-man interchanges just to accommodate all the star power.

How to watch AFL State of Origin on TV

There are two methods you can use to catch a TV broadcast of the bushfire relief game.

As is the case during the AFL home-and-away season, Fox Footy will have a live broadcast with no ad-breaks during play. Fox Footy’s telecast can be accessed through channel 504 – provided you have a valid Foxtel TV subscription – and their coverage begins at 7:30pm (AEDT).

Alternatively, you can simply tune into Channel 7’s free-to-air broadcast, which begins at the same time. Check your local listings if you plan to use this option, however, as the match may be on 7mate in your area.

How to live stream the bushfire relief match online

You’ll have a handful of options if live streaming this match is your preferred – or only – option.

Kayo Sports is probably your best option, as a Kayo subscription ($25 a month) will give you access to almost all of Foxtel’s sporting content on your preferred device – this includes every game of the AFL season (except the grand final).

If you just want to stream Origin, you might be able to swing yourself a free two-week trial of Kayo.

There’s also the Foxtel GO app, which is included in every Foxtel package. This is the best option for people who already have Foxtel, but can’t get to a TV.

Lastly, there’s the AFL Live Pass, available through the official AFL mobile app. This will only let you stream on your phone. If you’re a Telstra customer, you might be eligible to get the Live Pass for free.

Otherwise, you can always stay tuned to The Roar for live updates, video highlights and fan reaction.
