Paul Gallen takes on Darcy Lussick in Sydney tonight as the feature bout on the Footy Fight Xmas Bash featuring several current and former rugby league stars.
The two-night event commenced on Tuesday and concludes tonight.
Gallen was supposed to fight Josh Aloiai earlier this month but the fight had to be cancelled when Aloiai tested positive to COVID-19.
While Lussick is the clear underdog he can’t be written off after a first-round knockout over Justin Hodges two years ago.
While it’s only a 3-round fight there is an extra incentive for a fast and furious bout with promotor George Rose promising a $20,000 bonus for a knockout from either fighter.
While Gallen and Lussick will take centre stage there is still plenty of interest in the undercard with Olympic boxer Harry Garside making his pro debut while Joey Leilua vs Chris Heighington and Justin Hodges vs Nathan Ross should be entertaining.
Paul Gallen vs Darcy Lussick (Heavyweight) (3x 2-minute rounds)
Harry Garside (Pro Debut) vs Sachin Mudaliar (Lightweight) (6x 3-minute rounds)
Joey Leilua vs Chris Heighington (3x 2-minute rounds)
Justin Hodges vs Nathan Ross (Heavyweight) (3x 2-minute rounds)
Freddy Lussick vs Taylan May
Godly Strong vs Tavita Vaogo
Linn Sandstrom vs Natalie Hills
Katie McLaren vs Malakay Moukayber
Enja Prest vs Ella Boot
Natalie Hills vs Linn Sandstrom
Kate McLaren vs Malakay Moukayber
The first two fights of the undercard will be shown on Fox Sports which can be viewed through Foxtel or a regular Kayo subscription. The rest of the fight night including the main bout between Paul Gallen and Darcy Lussick can only be viewed by purchasing a pay-per-view pass through Main Event.
If you want to watch the fight on regular pay television you’ll need to have a Foxtel account and then you’ll need to order Main Event on top of that.
For those who want to stream the fight your only legal option is through Kayo Sports.
The cost of the fight is $59.95 and only one stream can be viewed on any account at the same time – meaning unfortunately you can’t share your Kayo login with family and friends.
If you don’t want to purchase the fight night we’ll keep you updated right here on The Roar with a live blog and round-by-round updates.
The fight night is scheduled to start at 7pm AEDT. There are 10 fights to get through before Gallen and Lussick enter the ring so don’t expect the main fight to start until after 10pm AEDT at the earliest. If past fights are anything to go by it will be some time between 10:30pm and 11:15pm AEDT.
