Felise Kaufusi scored the opening try for the Queensland Maroons against the NSW Blues in Game 2 of State of Origin in Perth.

The Blues got the scoring underway after taking two points with a Nathan Cleary penalty after sustained pressure in Maroons territory.

The opening try came in the 23rd minute after some nice ball play from Ben Hunt and Daly Cherry-Evans, putting Kaufusi into the gap.

Several NSW players complained about a forward pass but the referee awarded it and the bunker can’t rule on forward passes.

Queensland winger Selwyn Cobbo had a couple of chances to score the opener for the Maroons but was bundled out into touch early and then bounced the ball with a try in sight in the 16th minute.

It didn’t take long for NSW to hit back with Matt Burton scoring a try on the next set after a great kick from Cleary.

It was a weird first half for Kaufusi who was sent to the sin bin at the end of the first half for repeated infringements from Queensland in trying to deny NSW a late try.
