We asked you to give your player ratings for the Wallabies’ latest loss to the All Blacks at Eden Park – and you certainly did.

Whether the poor performance was exacerbated by the heartbreak of Melbourne, or whether it was just dire in its own right, a staggering 20 of the chosen 23 ended with a fail grade – that is, an average of below 5.

Remarkably, Darcy Swain’s Bledisloe 1 performance is still the lowest single rating by a Wallaby in The Rugby Championship, but with Jed Holloway, Bernard Foley, Tom Wright, Pone Fa’amausili, Nic White and Jordan Petaia all averaging in the 3s, he’s got a bit of company now.

Of the three spared, Allan Alaalatoa (5.24) and Marika Koroibete (5.14) only narrowly avoided the same fate, with Koroibete’s performance in particular a far cry from his excellent efforts in Melbourne, and his Roar-high performance in Adelaide.

The only Wallaby to leave Auckland with head held high, in your eyes at least, was Pete Samu, who continued his career-best season with a team-high score for the second Test in a row.

Again filling in at 7 for Michael Hooper, Samu showed more than enough to give Dave Rennie a headache at the selection table moving forward – and alongside Rob Valetini, would be the frontrunners for Wallaby of the Championships honours.
