In a Rugby Championship where all teams were up and down like a yo-yo were the Wallabies as bad as some have suggested and in a state of no return?

Are the refs not making the correct which the ref did but it was the timing of it that was the problem, or could it be that the Wallabies coaching staff are not researching the referees like they should be? The best teams want to know as much as they can about a ref, this will allow for better communication and respect between both parties.

What is the captain’s role? He provides the communication and leadership by proving it through his own actions and gameplay.

James Slipper was the most penalised player in The Rugby Championship and this must have had a negative impact on the less experienced players, seeing their captain not leading by example.

He also seems to be lacking the necessary communication with the team, and I have not seen him talking with the players and telling them to ‘reset’ when the pressure is on.

Dave Rennie is now looking like a coach under genuine pressure, and his unnecessary complaints about the Haka after Bledisloe1 was telling for me.

Rather than his focus being on the game itself only, and where his team were unable to hold out to win! He used the classic deflection tactic, while making this a ploy to fire up the players.

He has now said after Saturday night’s game that it could be a selection issue, does he really think that dropping players for the EOYT is a smart idea?

This again will add to players having to get used to each other’s game, I cannot see the combinations being a big success also with limited time together.

Then the players that are left out will not have great confidence moving forward, even the ones playing because they know a bad game and they are out.

Now many at this point in the article will say that there are no positives and that the national team are in a bad place, but are they really?

First what if this all happened next year with the Rugby World Cup on the door step, well thankfully it is 2022 and not 2023.

Michael Hooper, the captain and heart of the team, will be back, plus the injured players will be returning to bolster the team including the great one Quade Cooper (hopefully).

Blooding so many players will have added much needed depth unlike the past, with genuine competition for places.

Dave Rennie will have an idea of the team and squad that he will go with, just do not get too involved with the media though please.

When next year does roll around then this season will be mainly forgotten about, with the real prize insight.
There are always positives amongst the negatives. Sometimes you need to sift harder to find them but they are definitely there for the Wallabies.

Roarers, I am genuinely interested in your views about the situation and the team moving forward.
