England striker Harry Kane looks to have agreed his long-discussed move from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich.
According to multiple news reports in Britain and Germany, Bayern and Spurs agreed a deal on Thursday night, although Kane’s willingness to make the move was questioned by several media outlets.
According to The Athletic, Kane has now made his decision and is waiting for the green light to travel to Munich for a medical.
Sky Sports reported on Thursday afternoon it was looking “increasingly likely” Kane would stay at Tottenham Hotspur this season.
But by the evening the news organisation reported online that Kane would stand by his verbal commitment, and had decided he would move on to Bayern and not see out the final year of his contract at Tottenham.

German media reported Kane had told Munich weeks ago he would join them, while other outlets suggested the England captain was leaning towards staying at Spurs because he liked new Australian coach Postecoglou.
Kane has been Bayern Munich’s main transfer target for weeks.
Spurs now appear to have accepted a fourth offer, said to be a Bayern club record of 110 million euros ($A184 million), plus add-ons, even though it was below the London club’s valuation of Stg 100 million ($A195 million).
Spurs owner Joe Lewis reportedly decided to sell Kane rather than have the England captain leave for free when his contract runs out next year.
According to a report in Thursday’s edition of the German newspaper Bild, some financial questions still need to be clarified, including bonuses still owing from Tottenham, and adviser fees.
The Munich club appear confident the transfer will happen.
Kane is said to have wanted his future decided before the start of the English Premier League (EPL) season, with Spurs to face Brentford on Sunday in their opening game.
Kane came through the youth academy at Tottenham and is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances.
He ranks second in the all-time scorers of the Premier League era, with 213 goals since his 2012 debut, behind Alan Shearer (260).
He is also England’s record international goalscorer with 58.
Spurs did not qualify for Europe in a modest 2022/23 campaign in which they finished eighth in the EPL.
But Kane would have a chance to play Champions League for Bayern, who are six-time European champions and have won the last 11 German league titles.
His arrival in Germany would be prestigious for the whole Bundesliga and even more so for Bayern, who hope he can fill the void up front since Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona 12 months ago.
Bayern’s former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel reportedly visited Kane in May to convince him of the benefits of a move to Germany.
Bayern’s pursuit of another England player, defender Kyle Walker from Manchester City, appears to have fallen through.
