The 2023 Brownlow Medal is set to be one of the most tightly contested in years, with several stars of the game vying to take home the AFL’s most prestigious individual honour.

For the first time since 2019, the event will take place on Monday evening at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, with the 2020 and 2021 editions taking place during Victoria’s COVID-19 lockdowns and the 2022 count moved to Sunday night due to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Looking to follow along with all the action on footy’s night of nights? Here’s The Roar’s guide for how you can watch live wherever you are, on your TV or preferred device.

Channel Seven’s coverage of the night will begin at 7:30pm (AEST). It is expected that the 2023 Brownlow count will start at roughly 8pm (AEST).

The winner is expected to be crowned at roughly 10:30pm (AEST), as it was in 2022.

Collingwood young star Nick Daicos is the narrow favourite to cap his superb season with a maiden Brownlow Medal – and start his week off in the perfect fashion ahead of his grand final debut on Saturday. Close behind is Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli, with the pair clear standouts ahead of Melbourne gun Christian Petracca, AFL Coaches Association MVP winner Zak Butters and 2020 winner and Daicos’ grand final opponent Lachie Neale.

Also to be announced on the night are the 2023 Mark and Goal of the Year awards. Giant Harry Himmelberg is the leading contender to claim the former award, with two of the three finallists’ marks taken by him.

How to watch the 2023 Brownlow Medal on TV

As has been the case since 2011, the only way to watch the Brownlow Medal count on broadcast television will be through Channel Seven.

Their coverage begins at 7:30pm (AEST), but may be on 7mate in your area – so check your local guide to make sure.

The glitz and glamour will be in full force on the red carpet leading up to the count, so if that’s your main interest of the night, be sure to be watching from the get-go for all the dresses and drama there.

Their coverage of the night is expected to end up roughly 11:30pm (AEST), following the Brownlow Medal presentation and winners’ speech.

Unlike most other events on the AFL calendar, you will not be able to watch the Brownlow count on Fox Footy.
