Australian Patrick Kisnorbo has been sacked as manager of French club Troyes.
The former Melbourne City coach was axed after a horror year in the job as Troyes slipped from France’s top flight to struggle in the second division.
Kisnorbo’s future was under increasing pressure while winning just three games at Troyes – one in Ligue 1 last season and two in the second division this season.
In a one-sentence statement on their website on Monday (Australian time), Troyes said club management “today notified Patrick Kisnorbo … of his dismissal”.
Kisnorbo was sacked after consultation with club owners, the City Football Group.
Kisnorbo was the first Australian appointed manager of a club in Europe’s ‘top five’ leagues when given the Troyes job on November 23 last year.
But the 42-year-old’s tenure was a disaster.
He was given a two-and-a-half year contract when Troyes were in 13th place in Ligue 1.
But Kisnorbo, who enjoyed a trophy-laden stint with Melbourne City, banked just one win in France’s top flight, leading to relegation.
His second division stint proved similarly fruitless with Troyes winning just two of 15 games to sit 17th in the 20-club competition.
