The Western Bulldogs will appeal the decision handed down by the VFL tribunal on Tuesday evening to hand ruckman, Will Minson, a four-match suspension for making contact with an umpire.
Minson’a legal team argued for a financial sanction, but in less than half an hour the Tribunal members dismissed the appeal and moved forward with the ban.
“As we all know umpires are sacrosanct and not to be touched,” said Tribunal chairman Eddie Power.
“The evidence is we have very few cases (of umpire contact) over many, many years.
“We think that four premiership matches are appropriate in the circumstances.”
The suspension will serve as a further roadblock for Minson, who has spent the past five weeks in the VFL.

A set financial sanction of $1500 is the AFL’s policy in place for ‘careless’ contact with an umpire, however intentional contact is sent directly to the tribunal.
