The Adelaide Crows have appointed Scott Camporeale as interim coach in the wake of the murder of Phil Walsh.
Camporeale, in his fifth year as an assistant coach, will take charge with John Worsfold, a Walsh confidant, stepping in as coaching director.
The new roles of Camporeale and Worsfold, the former West Coast and Carlton coach, come after Walsh was allegedly murdered by his son last Friday.
Walsh worked under Worsfold at the Eagles and the premiership coach acted as a part-time consultant for the first-year Adelaide coach this season.
“John is a premiership coach who already has an understanding of our football program given he was briefly here on Walshy’s invitation earlier this year,” Adelaide’s chief executive Andrew Fagan said in a statement on Monday.
“We are thrilled that he has agreed to join our club for the remainder of this season.”
Camporeale had been Walsh’s senior assistant coach this year.
“Nine months ago we set out on a journey with Phil Walsh at the helm,” Fagan said.
“We are all determined to continue pushing down that path, guided by his values of elite standards, hard work, attention to detail and a team-first attitude.”
