Team of the Month: a May-born World Cricket XI
This series’ twelfth and final team has a distinct West Indian flavour at the top of the order, and a domineering captain.
James Faulkner has been handed a two year driving ban by an English magistrate after crashing his Toyota into a BMW M3 while more than three times the legal blood alcohol limit.
The Aussie allrounder has implied he will need to work on his pull shot, and other strokes, in order to make up for him being unable to drive.
With the on drive, off drive, cover drive and square drive all being illegal shots for Faulkner over the next two years, his range of strokes has been heavily limited.
He will now look to be a predominantly back-foot player in order to continue scoring runs for his teams.
“Luckily it’s only in England”, Faulkner told the English journos, “I mean it will hamper my run scoring for my County and Australia when I’m playing here, but at least I can still drive in other parts of the world”.
Not part of the Ashes squad, and consequently not part of the ODI reckoning, Faulkner will continue to play for Lancashire in the County competition. He’s been scoring consistently across all formats including his maiden First Class century.
Australian Coach, Darren Lehman expects ‘G.O.A.T’ to adapt during his ban. “Listen, he’s got a good cut, and a really decent pull shot, I reckon he’ll survive during the driving ban… but it will take strong determination to remain as a genuine allrounder”.
The decision has, however, confused pundits as to why David Warner has still been able to punch Joe Root off the back foot in the recent Ashes Tests.
