Shanghai’s Jiangwan Stadium will host the first AFL match for premiership points outside Australia and New Zealand.
“The crowd will be made up of fans travelling from Australia, fans from the Asian region and new fans from within China itself,” AFL finance officer Travis Auld said.
There has been speculation this week about whether the game will go ahead in Shanghai, given the regional tensions surrounding North Korea.
The AFL remains confident the game will proceed as planned but Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium is on standby.
