Collingwood could have more bad AFL injury news with speculation that Tyson Goldsack could be out for the season.
The Magpies are sweating on the results of more scans on Monday, after Goldsack hurt a knee during Saturday’s pre-season win over the Western Bulldogs.
There was no indication during or after the game that Goldsack had suffered the injury.
But the fear is that the popular tall utility has damaged an anterior cruciate ligament, potentially meaning a season-ending reconstruction.
Goldsack, 30, has played 161 games since his 2007 debut and was a member of Collingwood’s 2010 premiership team.
The Magpies have had a bad run with injuries in the off-season.
After Saturday’s win, coach Nathan Buckley confirmed that Daniel Wells (achilles) and Jamie Elliott (ankle) will not be ready for the round-one clash with Hawthorn.
Suspended utility Jordan de Goey now is also out of action with a hamstring injury, while James Aish has a calf problem.
Levi Greenwood (knee) is not expected back until round two or three.
Alex Fasolo (shoulder) could be ready for the start of the season, while Darcy Moore, Jeremy Howe and Adam Treloar all returned from injury for the Bulldogs game.
Collingwood pair Brodie Grundy and Travis Varcoe will also come under video scrutiny for off-the-ball incidents during the Bulldogs match.
