Firstly, the back-heel was exactly what he was trying to do. It wasn’t a mistake. Secondly, look at the pace he gets on it. It’s shot from around the penalty spot to the opposite corner and the ball is still rocketing by the time it reaches the bottom corner of the net.
So no fluke, just another incredible bit of skill from Ronaldo.
Where it ranks amongst his top goals still remains to be seen, but you’ve got to think that it’s close to one of his greatest ever.
