Blues Origin predicted team: Maguire set to overhaul squad in search of winning combination
New coach Michael Maguire is considering as many as 50 players for the State of Origin series opener with not even captain James Tedesco…
Brad Fittler made headlines on Sunday night after making a whopping seven changes to his New South Wales team ahead of Sunday’s Game 2 in Perth.
While it’s been a hugely controversial backline taking most of the attention, there have been a handful of changes in the forward pack that warrant analysis too.
The injury to David Klemmer is obviously a tough pair of shoes to fill, while Payne Haas also joins him in the medical room. Surprisingly, however, Angus Crichton has been left out too despite a serviceable performance off the bench in Game 1
Fittler has elected to beef up the forward pack by naming four replacements; Daniel Saifiti at prop and Dale Finucane, Tariq Sims and Wade Graham on the bench.
But were those the right replacements? Or has Freddy missed an obviously superior player who could’ve won them the series?
We got Roar NRL expert AJ Mithen on the Game of Codes podcast to have a look at the new-loow forward pack and bench being flown over to Optus Stadium in Perth for Sunday’s must-win clash.
