COVID-19 health advice has dominated the lead-up to the Adelaide Crows’ Round 12 clash with the travelling Collingwood Magpies at the Adelaide Oval. Check out the action with live scores on The Roar from 4:35pm (AEST).

With the Crows heading into mandatory quarantine following this match, as well as some bizarre urging from SA public health officer Nicola Spurrier to “duck and do not touch” any footballs kicked into the stands, it has been a build-up like no other for this battle of the birds.

The Crows have been impressive enough in front of their home fans in 2021 to record two of the season’s biggest upsets, thrilling wins over premiership hopefuls Geelong (in Round 1) and Melbourne (Round 10) chief among them.

They started brightly against reigning premiers Richmond in Round 11, too, and while they faded to lose by 28 points, there were still encouraging signs for coach Matthew Nicks to work with.

Things are falling apart for the Magpies on-field and off, with Jeff Browne’s continuing push to usurp the club presidency permanently in the backdrop as Nathan Buckley struggles to deal with his team’s rapid fall from grace.

Just two wins up to Round 11 sees the Pies sit sixteenth, and while their 10-point loss to Geelong last week appears gallant, their game style has once again come in for a barrage of criticism. With star ruckman Brodie Grundy set to miss the next few matches with a neck injury, Buckley seemingly can’t take a trick at the moment.
