The South Australian lockdown has forced the Adelaide Crows to ‘host’ the Hawthorn Hawks at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, in front of no fans. Follow along with Saturday night footy with live scores on The Roar from 7:40pm (AEST).
After a terrific start to the season, reality has well and truly set in for the Crows. Four consecutive losses, the latest by 42 points to the badly out of touch West Coast, leaves them sitting 16th on the ladder. A loss to the 17th-placed Hawks will see them fall one rung lower, too.
The Hawks have been up and down since the byes, beating Sydney and drawing with ladder-leaders Melbourne while also being thrashed by Fremantle. As rumours circle around the planned coaching succession between Alastair Clarkson and Sam Mitchell next year, the Hawks on-field have been no less dramatic.
Chad Wingard returns to the fold for the Hawks in a major boost, as do defensive duo Jack Scrimshaw and Blake Hardwick from injury. Veteran Shaun Burgoyne, meanwhile has been managed.
As for the Crows, defender Tom Doedee returns from the nasty concussion he suffered a fortnight ago against the Bombers.
