Show Preview

It’s the last chance saloon for the West Coast Eagles as they travel to Queensland to battle the in-form Brisbane Lions needing a win to have any chance of finals action. Follow along on The Roar with live scores from 4:35pm (AEST).

The Lions must beat the Eagles by roughly four goals to leapfrog the Western Bulldogs into fourth spot on the ladder, and earn the precious double change. They’re in rip-roaring form to do just that, though, heading in on the back of thumping wins over Fremantle and Collingwood.

The Eagles dropped out of the eight with their Derby loss to Fremantle, with their horror form since mid-season at last reflected in their ladder position. Ninth with a lowly percentage, they must rely on other results to sneak their way back in – but none of that will matter if they fall here today.

Should they triumph against the odds, one of GWS (playing Carlton) and Essendon (playing Collingwood) would need to slip up for the Eagles to make the eight, so they’ll at least be looking to ask the question. Making the task more difficult is the loss of spearhead Josh Kennedy through injury.

Kennedy is joined on the sidelines by fellow stars Jeremy McGovern and Tim Kelly in a hammer blow for the Eagles’ chances; while the Lions are unchanged.
