The Carlton Blues welcome the Collingwood Magpies to the Melbourne Cricket today looking to bounce back after an embarrassing performance from the week before. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 1:45pm (AEST).

It is difficult to comprehend what Brendon Bolton’s Blues put together against the North Melbourne Kangaroos last week.

The 58-point loss at Marvel Stadium was by far the worst performance Carlton have put forward this season.

The Kangaroos ran harder, and ultimately used the ball better. At times, it appeared to be nothing more than a training drill for the club from Arden Street.

How much longer do the Blues faithful put up with such performances? Patience much be wearing thin.

There were a few players that weren’t too bad. Zac Fisher found the ball 26 times and looked a threat. Jack Ziebell did a terrific job on Patrick Cripps, but the midfielder still showed his class with a 25-disposal game, which included two majors. However, that was about it from a positive perspective.

In team news this week for the Blues, Matthew Kreuzer, Mitch McGovern and Will Setterfield come into the side. Liam Jones (concussion), Lochie O’Brien (omitted) and Andrew Phillips (omitted) all make way.

As for Nathan Buckley’s Collingwood, they were exceptional against the Port Adelaide Power at Marvel Stadium last week, especially in the first quarter.

The Magpies were 39-point victors, and showed why they are a premiership favourite for many.

Scott Pendlebury led the way in terms of standout individual performances. The midfielder had a 36-disposal game and continued his form from Anzac Day.

Jaidyn Stephenson was sensational in front of goal, finishing the game with four majors. Jamie Elliott also had a terrific game, also finishing the match with four majors.

In team news this week for the Magpies, Rupert Wills and Chris Mayne come into the side. Taylor Adams (groin) and Dayne Beams (hip) make way.

Prediction
It is impossible to look past the Magpies. They are such a better outfit than the Blues, and it will show come the final result.

Collingwood by 37 points.
