Show Preview

A preliminary final clash with Sydney is on the line for Collingwood and Fremantle, as 2022’s biggest improvers lock horns at the MCG in a cutthroat semi-final. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 7:25pm (AEST).

After a hot start against the minor premiers Geelong last week, Collingwood ultimately could not hold off the class of the Cats. Up until, then, they were the heroes of single-digit wins throughout the year, but lost by only six points in front of 90,000 fans at the MCG.

Jordan De Goey proved a point last week with a dominant display playing through the midfield and drifting forward when needed. He did come off second best last week, injuring his shoulder and playing under duress for the latter part of the match.

Taylor Adams will miss the rest of the season with a groin injury, so Craig McRae will need De Goey firing to keep his engine room running.

Fremantle were down and out at half time last week against the Western Bulldogs, but they picked up their act and came away winning the match by a couple of goals in front of a record crowd at Optus Stadium last Saturday night.

The young Dockers midfielders have brought this side to life in 2022. Specifically, last weekend was a dominant showing from Caleb Serong, who had 33 disposals and earned the maximum ten coaches votes

The contest I am most looking forward to is how the two veterans, David Mundy and Scott Pendlebury, line up. They may not be direct opponents in this on, but their influence on the flow and delivery of the ball is vital to either team’s success.

I am tipping an upset and I think that Fremantle will be facing Sydney in the preliminary final next week.
