The Essendon Bombers welcome the GWS Giants to Marvel Stadium tonight, looking to make up for last week’s performance. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog, starting from 7:20pm (AEST).

After 13 rounds, John Worsfold’s side have secured just the six wins, which sees them sitting tenth on the ladder.

With there being high expectations surrounding the Bombers heading into this season, that return is simply not good enough.

The footballing public are assessing Essendon based on the fact they see themselves as a premiership threat, however, the reality is they are miles off the pace.

The Bombers are coming off a 35-point loss to West Coast, although not many sides get the better of the Eagles at Optus Stadium.

In team news, Martin Gleeson comes in for Matt Guelfi, who is suffering from soreness.

As for the Giants, they have notched up nine wins from 13 rounds, which sees them sitting third on the ladder.

Leon Cameron’s side have been very good so far, and they look as if they will give finals a red hot crack.

They are coming off the bye, which ensures they should be fresh going into this clash. The week before, however, they defeated the Kangaroos by 23 points at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena.

In team news for the Giants, Nick Haynes, Jackson Hately and Zac Langdon come into the side.

Matt de Boer (shoulder), Matt Buntine (omitted) and Jake Stein (omitted) make way.

Prediction
You could make a case for either side in terms of winning this game, however, I feel the Giants will have too much quality for the Bombers on the inside and the outside.

Also, Essendon are coming off a trip to Perth and GWS are coming off the bye, which is a clear advantage for the Giants.

Giants by 19 points
