Geelong are on a winning run after smashing the Brisbane Lions by 27 points at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex last Saturday afternoon.

It was an even first half on the scoreboard until Mia-Rae Clifford put the travelling side up by six points at the main break.

From there Geelong took off, dominating possession and setting up multiple scoring opportunities, all while holding Brisbane to one behind in the second half.

Undefeated at their home ground, the Cats women will be looking to make it three-in-a-row and confirm their place atop of Conference B and in the preliminary finals when they take on the Dockers on Saturday.

Over in the west, Fremantle charged home against the Western Bulldogs to beat the reigning premiers by three goals.

It was a tight contest through the opening half, however a three-goals-to-one final term extended the Dockers lead and brought home the important victory that keeps them in the hunt for finals.

Only one change for the Cats this week, Maddie Boyd returns from a suspension which saw her miss last weekend’s victory over the Lions.

Defender Georgia Clarke has been omitted from the side.

Fremantle have a big out this week with Kellie Gibson to miss with a concussion suffered late against the Bulldogs. She has been integral to the side’s performance in recent weeks, including a three-goal haul last Sunday. Ashlee Atkins joins the squad in Gibson’s place.

Evie Gooch, a late out against the Bulldogs, is clear to play after a minor calf issue. Laura Pugh has been omitted to make way for the returning defender.

Geelong, the Conference B leaders, are finding form at the right time of the season but come up against a strong Fremantle side who sit third in Conference A, only behind Adelaide and North Melbourne on percentage.

Prediction
Both sides know what is at stake when they do battle on Saturday.

A loss in Geelong would almost certainly cost Fremantle their first look at finals and they’re playing for each other now, they can’t drop out of the hunt.

Fremantle by 15.
